Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration

Course content

Teaches students to carry out business administration tasks, and provides a foundation for a career working in different business settings such as estate agents, the legal profession, or small businesses. Consists of core units which all students must complete, and a choice of optional units depending on the job role they are doing whilst on the apprenticeship.

Mandatory units:
Communication in a business environment; principles of providing administration services; document production; information management; understanding employer organisations; managing personal performance and development; developing working relationships with colleagues.

Optional units:
Managing a diary system; collating report data; storing and retrieving information; producing minutes of meetings, handling mail, providing reception services; telephone skills; archiving information; delivering presentations; monitoring information systems.

Other information

• Students are employed by a business and receive a wage
• Training is a mix of practical on-the-job, and off-the-job training
• Students can progress onto an advanced apprenticeship in business administration (level 3) or consider other career development such as a diploma in team leading or management
• Tutors from Mode provide ongoing support and assessment to students throughout their course, and this includes additional training in English and maths if necessary
