From School Struggles to Success at Mode
Imogen first heard about Mode while she was still in school. Traditional schooling didn’t suit her, and she often struggled with attendance and staying engaged. But everything changed when she joined our Alternative Education Schools Programme.
Discovering a Passion for Music Production
“I chose Mode because I first heard about it when I was still in school, and honestly school just wasn’t for me. When I left, I went to Mode to do hairdressing, but that’s when I found out they had Music Production… and straight away I knew that’s what I wanted to do.”
Music had always been a quiet passion for Imogen, but Mode gave her the space—and the support—to explore it properly.
“I’m so glad I did because I wouldn’t be where I am now without Mode and the tutors there.”
Outstanding Attendance and a New Attitude to Learning
Since joining, Imogen has shown outstanding attendance, something she previously found difficult in school. Over the past year, we’ve seen an impressive positive shift in her attitude to learning. She constantly looks for ways to improve, pushes herself creatively, and is often the first to support other learners. Her growth has been remarkable.
Imogen’s talent and dedication have already taken her to performances at Scouse Girl Social, private parties, wedding parties, Loco Kidz, and her own Friday residency at Cookson Bridge.
Funding from the Merseyside Police Stonehaven project supported Imogen’s attendance at Scouse Girl Socials, helping her build confidence, gain real-world DJ experience, and grow her professional network.
A Bright Future in Music
Looking ahead, Imogen dreams big:
“In the next five years, I see myself playing Creamfields, making my own music, and travelling the world DJing and doing what I love.”
We are incredibly proud of Imogen and everything she has achieved so far. Her journey embodies what Made@Mode stands for: discovering your passion, building your confidence, and shaping the future you want.
And at just 15, this is only the beginning.
