Level 2 Diploma Hair Professional
This level 2 diploma hair professional is aimed at those looking to take the first step into the exciting hairdressing sector. Providing you with the skills you need to grow and develop in this vibrant, thriving industry.
Employed in local salon
You will be employed as an apprentice in a local salon. And will receive an apprenticeship wage. You will attend college 1 day per week for off the job training. And your assessor will visit your salon to conduct assessments and review your progress.
Entry requirements
Aged 16+
Course length
18 to 24 months depending on previous experience.
Qualification
Level 2 Diploma Hair Professional
Once you have completed your qualification you will enter the gateway in preparation for your End Point Assessment.
End Point Assessment EPA
EPA of mandatory skills, knowledge and behaviours specified in the standard. This will be via practical assessment and oral questioning. The practical assessment and oral questioning will include:
- Professionalism
- Values
- Behaviours
- Communication
- Safe working practices and
- Consultation skills
You will require 2 models for your end point assessment.
1st model must be below shoulder, this model is required for:
- Woven colour technique and toner
- Curly blow dry
- Pin curls
- Hair up (including plaiting and/or twisting techniques
2nd model needs to have a haircut that incorporates 3 cutting techniques and include changing the outside shape of the cut (restyle), this also includes:
- Club cutting
- Freehand
- Scissor over comb
- Texturising (may include razoring)
- Precision cut and techniques (including disconnection)
- Fringe cutting
- Clipper work
This consists of a 6-hour practical observation.
Costs and funding
Course costs £11,000. The costs of training and assessment are usually paid for by government funding, with contributions from the employer. The course can also be paid for privately.
