Life changing decision
More than five years ago, Kaci-Lea Lynch made a life-changing decision. The decision would take her from school to international DJ in less than 5 years. After returning to school following her GCSEs, she quickly realised that remaining in a traditional school setting was not for her. Filled with ambition and drive, Kaci-Lea arrived at Mode Training, knowing there was nothing else she wanted to be other than a DJ. Music had always been a significant part of her life, inspired by watching her Uncle Dave DJ at local parties and events. She was determined to achieve her dreams.
Kaci-Lea enrolled in our Music Technology Level 2 Skills for Music and Music Technology course, a decision that laid the foundation for her future career. During her time at Mode, she quickly mastered the technical skills needed to DJ and gained a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the profession. She learned how to promote herself, create a personal brand, and navigate the business side of the industry.
Active promotion online skyrocketed her career
Her tutors encouraged her to create a SoundCloud account, upload her mixes to the platform, and actively promote herself on social media. Initially, she took bookings for family and friends, but soon she was performing in local clubs. Her name started appearing on event posters across the city, and before long, she was DJing in Ibiza. Her career skyrocketed, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Kaci-Lea has come full circle, recently returning to Mode to attend a local school as part of Mode’s enrichment programme, inspiring other young people and sharing her journey. Always eager to learn, she is currently enhancing her production skills with one-on-one sessions with Mode tutor Mike Chatterton.
Debbie Carney, Mode Director, says, “We have followed Kaci-Lea’s journey since she completed her course back in 2019. One thing that shines through with Kaci-Lea is her can-do attitude and never giving up. She has never forgotten where her journey began and is always one of the first young people to support Mode in all we do. We are all immensely proud of her achievements and look forward to what the future holds.”
We will leave the last word to Kaci-Lea: “Life is an education; you’re always learning. If you make mistakes, learn from them to help you grow. Always take the risk, or you may lose the chance. Stay consistent and keep believing in yourself because you never know what the future holds for you!”
