This is a 14-week course for young people who aren’t quite ready to start on a Mode hairdressing apprenticeship. The course will help develop the personal skills you need to apply for an apprenticeship. You will also undertake some work experience to get used to a working environment and learn practical skills that will prepare you to work in a salon.

Course content

• Introduction: an overview of the course; communication skills including letter writing, CV skills and job application tips
• Customer Service: personal appearance; team working; salon equipment and tools; salon duties; styling products
• Shampoo and Conditioning: practice shampooing; massage techniques; health and safety when shampooing; hair types and scalp conditions
• Blow drying and finishing: practice blow drying including product selection; techniques for different hair lengths; root lift; smooth and straight; creating curl/flick
• Basic plaiting and twisting: demonstrations and practice
• Promotion of services and products to clients

Progression

Once you have completed your traineeship, you will be in a great position to progress onto a hairdressing apprenticeship.
