Mental Health Monday re launch
We will be re-launching our Mental Health Monday initiative as part of our Mental Health Awareness Week celebration.
Mental Health Awareness Week, now in its 23rd year. And runs from 15-21 May and is hosted by the charity, Mental Health Foundation.
This years theme is anxiety
This year, the theme is ‘anxiety’. Across the UK, you can get involved by sharing your experience of anxiety. And the things you find helpful with the hashtag #ToHelpMyAnxiety. As part of the campaign. The Mental Health Foundation will publish guidance on how to manage and improve feelings of anxiety. And prevent them from developing into a more serious mental health problem.
Join our Director Debbie Carney at 11.00 am every fortnight commencing Monday 15th May on Instagram “LIVE.” For her Mental Health Monday initiative. The initiative, originally launched shortly after the pandemic. Provides Mode governors, staff, students, employers, and all stakeholders a platform to discuss issues around mental health. With the subject each week chosen by the guest.
Importance of the initiative
Debbie explains the importance of the initiative: “Having a platform of like-minded individuals where you can share your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly is so important. Mode has a long history of supporting staff and students with their mental health. And re launching Mental Health Mondays adds yet another layer to the support we have in place.
Our mental health first aiders are always looking at improving how they engage with staff and students across the organisation. With an increase in the numbers who report they feel anxious more often, Mental Health Awareness Week is a prime opportunity for us all to celebrate the great work we do all year round.”
Alexa Charnley, Director of Fundraising and Communications at the Mental Health Foundation, said:
“We all experience anxiety but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem. However, there are things we can do to manage feelings of anxiety and stop them becoming overwhelming. For example, breathing exercises, physical activity, speaking to a trusted friend, or keeping a diary. You can find more information and guidance on our website mentalhealth.org.uk.
“This year we are encouraging everyone to get involved. For example, share your experience of anxiety and what strategies to use #ToHelpMyAnxiety. We hope people all over the UK will take part and help us to normalise conversations about anxiety and mental health. We hope the week helps people to feel more confident in talking about anxiety and how it affects them. Most importantly, we hope people understand more about what they can do to manage anxiety and what other support is available.”
