Starting 25 November 2025, the world once again unites for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence—a global movement that shines a light on abuse in all its forms and calls for collective action. This year, we’re raising our voices louder than ever with a clear message – #NoExcuse for Online Abuse.
There is #NoExcuse for Online Abuse
In a world more connected than any generation before it, our digital spaces should be places of empowerment, expression, and community. Yet for millions, online platforms have become spaces of harassment, intimidation, and harm.
From hateful messages and threats to coercion, stalking, and the misuse of private images, online abuse leaves deep emotional scars. It silences voices. It isolates victims. And it disproportionately targets women, girls, and marginalised communities.
Why This Campaign Matters
Online abuse is real-world abuse.
It happens behind screens, but its impact is felt in classrooms, workplaces, homes, and relationships.
- 1 in 3 women will experience gender-based violence in their lifetime, and online abuse is increasingly part of that reality.
- Young people face rising risks, with harmful content, grooming, coercive control, and cyberbullying on the rise.
- Many victims suffer in silence—unsure where to turn, afraid they won’t be believed, or convinced it’s “not serious enough” to report.
