Where it all began

Chrissy’s love of music started in a pirate radio station in 1999 which was situated on top of his dad’s cafe.

Every day after school, Chrissy would go home and go straight up to Sound FM where he would watch the DJs playing vinyl and he would become involved in doing live jingles for the station. It was at this point Chrissy knew he wanted to be a DJ.

For two years Chrissy practiced on the decks until he met two lifelong friends who were MCs, Mc Smokey and Mc Blitzer, he decided to postpone his DJ career and take up MCing.

Chrissy was an MC all through his teenage years, however, he dreamed of learning how to produce his own music and then decided to pursue a full-time career in music.

Starting at Mode

In October 2021 Chrissy made that step forward and signed up for Mode’s Introduction to Music Technology course which he says “Put me straight into the best musical journey I have ever been on, I didn’t want to leave”.

In his first week at Mode, Chrissy received an  opportunity from our very own Vicki Scott to provide a guestmix for her live radio show on InDemand Radio, along with friend Simon Byrne who had also just signed up for the course.

Chrissy and Simon created an old school scouse house mix that suited perfectly the style of Reminisce Festival as their mix was set to be aired live on the day the festival commenced on Saturday 10th September 2021.

Developing further skills and knowledge

On completion of our Level 1 Music Technology course, Chrissy returned to our Level 2 Music Technology course where he then learnt how to produce music and gain more in depth knowledge and skills using Ableton.

During his time on the course, Chrissy continued pursuing his music career on the club scene in Wigan, Blackpool, Burnley, and also his hometown Liverpool, including a huge opportunity to perform a live DJ set for Mode at Reminisce Festival in September this year.

Wanting to develop skills even further, Chrissy has now enrolled on our brand new Digital Skills bootcamp where he will learn valuable skills on how to promote himself effectively online in order to create a strong effective social media strategy, which will in turn increase traffic to his social media platforms and give him a clear understanding of the benefits of promoting his services online.

Set for the future

Chrissy says attending Mode has given him so many skills. He is now pursuing a career he can be proud of, in addition, to the support he has received with his music. He says he can’t thank the team enough for his individual support which has given him the confidence to progress even further.  Going on to say he can not recommend Mode enough to others and is excited for what is yet to come.
