“The best decision he ever made”

Lewis attended DJ Camp back in 2019 at the age of 14 and describes it as “the best decision he ever made.” Lewis wanted to improve his self taught DJ skills. He was keen to learn everything he could about the music industry. Gaining as much knowledge as he could to improve his skills. Whilst meeting other like minded young people.

Gaining skills, knowledge and confidence

During the camp Lewis learnt how to use the equipment correctly. He grew in confidence and greatly improved his skills. He soon had the confidence to build a social media presence, which led to bookings for local private parties. Lewis took on board all the advice from the tutors. Including creating a Soundcloud profile which has now organically reached a staggering 1 million streams.

Progressing forward

Fast forward 4 years and Lewis is now one of the best young DJs this city has to offer. Not only has he secured himself a residency in Modo with tutor Les Calvert. He also plays alongside former student Amelia Preston in Sensation. In fact, Lewis can be found DJ’ing in a range of venues every weekend including private bookings.

But that is not all. We were so impressed with Lewis’s dedication and work ethic we have now employed him. Lewis assists the music tutors with lesson preperations. Whilst also teaching our youngest students both private 1 to 1 DJ Lessons and at DJ Camp.

What’s next

A bright future awaits Lewis as he is also focussing on his music production skills. Lewis will also be starting an apprenticeship as a classroom assistant to further develop his teaching skills. We can’t wait to see what the next 4 years hold for Lewis!
